A great way to getting to the top of Google fast is to submit a press release, which is exactly what I did.
I created a tip sheet press release based on the earlier blog post: 5 Steps to Successful Keyword Research for Local Business Articles.
I renamed it “Ghostwriter Anon Offers Local Business Articles and Essential Keyword Research Advice“.
And submitted it to the following 6 free press release sites.
- http://www.prlog.org (published immediately)
- http://www.freepressrelease.com (published immediately)
- http://www.pitchengine.com (published immediately)
- http://www.bignews.biz (published within a couple of hours of submission)
- http://www.prfire.co.uk (published within 12 hours)
- http://www.fgnpr.com (still pending at time of writing this blog)
(I shouldn’t really share these with you, as these are some of the sources we use for our press release writing services to help get you on to page one of Google News and often Google web search too, but I want to give you the full picture on how quick you can get onto the first page of Google for terms like “local business articles”)
Within a couple of hours (on February 24th), we had links from the press releases in the first position of Google News, which is still there today as well.

And from Google Web Search too:

I used Socialbot to bookmark the press release at bignews.biz. I’m not sure how much that helped, but now after 12 hours, the pitchengine link on the first page of Google has disappeared, but we now have two links from bignews.biz:

Now, how useful is that for you?
You can get onto the front page of Google very easily and quickly for quite competitive keywords, with press releases published on free press release distribution sites.
Local business articles has 284,000,000 results, so getting on the first page of Google overnight is a great achievement.
Now, we just have to wait for all the enquiries
This is especially useful to know if you plan to promote new affiliate launches, or want to rank very quickly for a term appearing on Google Trends.
I’ve still not got my three links on the first of page of Google, but I’m not done yet
I still have another 25 free press release distribution sites that I want to submit this press release to, as well, so in a later blog post (in a couple of weeks) I will show you how many syndicated links that can get you.
More Backlinks = More Google Juice
